Random Projects Finished

Grant loves making crafts and has brought home some really cute things from preschool. So I decided to make a display board for him. Ignore the gold paint on the wall- someday it will be repainted :). Great job Grant!

Over a Year ago I saw a quilt design on a quilt blog (piecenquilt.blogspot.com) and fell in love with this pattern! So I enlisted the help of my wonderful mother-in-law, Kathy, to help me with this project for Madelynn. I think it turned out fantastic! I can't wait until we finish Madelynn's room.

It's hard to tell from my poor photography skills, but Kathy did an amazing job on the quilting. She doesn't have a long arm quilt machine and so did it all on her machine, which I think it so impressive!

Now on to some random house projects-Before and Afters.

This is the Living room from the Selling Brochure. The walls look cream, but they were actually a light green.

This is after we moved in and replaced the carpet- already smells better :)


We pulled all of the brown trim (casing, crown, and base) out and replaced it with white trim. Painted the ceiling (Dover White) and the walls a color called High Tea- again the picture doesn't do the color justice, but this is Chris and my favorite color in the house. We replaced all of the light switch plates, electrical outlets and plates, and the baseboard diffusers. Looks so much better! Eventually we'll get furniture :)

We used custom made crown molding corners. They make the crown installation a lot easier and we love the way they look.

We are taking a break from house renovation for the winter because it is too cold to paint the trim in the garage and because I am getting more uncomfortable with the pregnancy- so we'll resume in the spring.

Busy, Busy October!

We had a really eventful October! And it was even more exciting because Chris' parents came to visit us. While they were here we had two dinner parties, visited Chicago, went to a Pumpkin farm/petting zoo, carved pumpkins, attended Grant's preschool program, and trick or treated.

Grant's program was really cute! The kids put on a costume parade and sang different spooky songs for family.

Maddie and Grant really love their Grandma and Grandpa Anderson and looked forward to their visit for literally weeks.

Dash and Maddie the lion. This Halloween Grant avoided a broken leg, so he was able to show us how fast Dash runs.

The pumpkin farm had a lot of inflatable slides. The kids could have spent all day on the slides.

We had a spooky dinner party on Saturday (that I managed not to get any pictures of) and then on Sunday we had a birthday party for Madelynn. I made a Ducky Bathtub cake for her. Kathy was awesome and made the bubbles, soap, and faucet/handles for the cake! It turned out pretty cute and Maddie loved it!

Madelynn was extremely excited for her party. She requested owls and party hats.

Happy 2nd Birthday little cutie!

Madelynn is super sweet with a little sass. The best way to describe Maddie is "Silly".

Some of Maddie's favorite things: playing "night, night games"; pretending that she's a mommy; pretending that she's a new baby; roaring like a lion; painting, coloring, Grant, dogs, Word World, putting Tupperware on her head and act like a cowgirl; rummaging through drawers, reading books; nursery; singing; loves Mac n cheese, bananas, and getting treats.

This is a picture from the selling brochure. This room wasn't terrible, we just wanted to give it more personality to match Grant.

Here it is! Sorry for the unprofessional pics- it looks way better in person.

The room was painted a very pale blue so we livened it up with the darker blue on the bottom and then added the same blue just two shades lighter on the top. We replaced the carpet, base board, and casing for windows and doors. We also added chair rail to divide the blues. We also had to replace all of the outlets switches, outlet plates, light switches and light switches to white because everything was in a beige. I didn't take a pic of the door- but it was stained a dark brown and so I sanded it and painted it white and then replaced the gold colored door knob with a brushed nickel. Grant loves his room!

Gotta love Fall!

So far the Fall has been just beautiful. The weather has been between 65-80 and the trees are amazing. Last week we went out to have a porch pic nic and afterward the kids decided to run around and try to catch the falling leaves.

I made piles of leaves and told the kids to go nuts and jump in them. They decided they would rather sit in their "nests".

Some fun things we have been doing this Fall are: finding different types of leaves; tracing leaves with crayons and hanging on the window; making different spooky paper cutouts to put on the windows; going for long walks (before the winter comes); raking leaves; raking leaves; and raking leaves; and painting pumpkins
